Central Michigan and Mt. Pleasant police were waiting for the protesters from New America Project at CMU president Davies' home where NAP was going to have their speeches. NAP was protesting face to face classes, defund CMU police, require anti-racist training for all faculty members, and provide BIPOC among their 19 other demands.

New America Project, founded in 2019 , led the protest with their banner about the demands they want CMU President Davies to consider and change to make CMU campus better for students and faculty on the campus of Central Michigan on September 18, 2020. NAP is also the leader for the #notfiredupforfallmovement, so they are trying to bring more awareness to campus about important issues.
